P2P Packs

From Poverty to Prosperity (P2P) is a new development awareness project written by teachers in three EU countries plus Ghana. They are offering two free teaching packs for download that deal with Biodiversity/Poverty and Climate Change. They link in to a range of development topics.

If you want to create maps for the IWB, then a good website is UMapper. It allows you to plot any data (markers, images, etc) on various base maps (Bing, Google, etc). There are also templates and options to create location games. The maps could be used to plot student generated data e.g. where they went on holiday, where their clothes originated from, etc. or data that you want to display e.g. UK trading partners, coastal images, etc.

Making Geography Happen

Making Geography Happen is an Action Plan funded project about good quality, innovative curriculum-making in primary and secondary schools. It focuses on the work produced by students in geography lessons and how this contributes to their wider understanding of the world.

Five schools participated in the project and the resulting materials, including planning documents, examples of students’ work and teacher and student responses, are now available on the GA website.

The site also includes further information about the project, ‘Teacher Tips’ from participants and background reading on progression.
